Monogram Wedding Invitation Templates

Two initials at the heart of the card, ringed or crested, set in a formal script — a monogram invitation turns your names into an emblem you can carry across every piece of the day. Here are editable monogram designs, what makes the style work, how to build your own monogram, and the formal wording that suits it.

The short answer: A monogram invitation places the couple's two initials at the centre — inside a ring or crest — in a formal script or serif as the signature element. Pick a design below, make it yours in the free editor, and download a print-ready PNG.

What makes an invitation a "monogram"?

A monogram design is built around a single idea: your initials as the centrepiece. Everything else — the date, the venue, the host line — sits in support of that emblem. Three things make it work:

How to build your monogram

A monogram is quick to make in the editor: take the first initial of each first name — say O and J — and join them with an ampersand, or place one either side of the ring motif. Add a crest or corner frame, pick a script or serif, and you have an emblem you can reuse on save-the-dates, menus, place cards and thank-you notes. Keep it to two letters; a third initial usually crowds the design and weakens the effect.

Monogram wedding invitation wording

A monogram reads as formal, so the wording usually follows suit: third person, courtesy titles, and the date spelled out. The host line traditionally names the bride's parents, with the couple's initials echoed in the crest above.

Because the monogram already carries your initials, you can keep the body wording clean and let the crest do the personalising. For more host-line options and a fill-in template, see the full wedding invitation wording guide and the strictly traditional examples on the formal wording page.

Carry the monogram across the suite

The strength of a monogram is reuse. Once you have your initials and frame, drop the same emblem on your save-the-date, menu, place cards and thank-you notes for a cohesive, custom feel. The 5×7 PNG you download here prints cleanly on heavy ivory or cream stock at home or at a print shop.

Frequently asked questions

What is a monogram wedding invitation?

A monogram invitation puts the couple's two initials at the centre of the design — often inside a ring, crest or decorative frame — as the signature element. It reads formal and personal at once, and the same monogram can carry across save-the-dates, menus and thank-you cards.

How do I make a monogram for my wedding invitation?

Take the first initial of each partner's first name and join them with an ampersand or set them either side of a ring or crest — for example O & J. In the editor you can place the two initials, choose a script or serif, and add a ring or corner motif to frame them. Keep it to two letters so it stays clean.

What font works best for a monogram invitation?

A formal script or a high-contrast serif gives the initials presence. Pair the monogram with a clean serif or sans for the date and venue so the letters stay the hero. The designs here use an elegant script and serif mix to keep the focus on the initials.

Are these monogram templates free to download?

Yes — every design is free to edit and download as a high-resolution PNG or JPG, with no watermark and no sign-up. The site is supported by ads.
