Make every place card from one guest list
Typing one card at a time works for a dinner party, not for a wedding. Design one card above, then open the Guest list tab and paste your list, one guest per line, with the table after a comma: Guest name, 4. A plain number becomes "Table 4"; you can also write a table name such as "Willow". An optional third column adds an extra line, for example a meal choice. You can paste straight from a spreadsheet, because tab-separated columns work too.
The maker shows how many cards it found and lets you preview any guest on the card before you download. When the design looks right, choose All cards (ZIP of PNGs) for a folder of image files, one per guest, or Print sheets (PDF) for ready-to-cut pages. One batch makes up to 200 cards; for a bigger list, split it into two batches.
Place cards or escort cards?
The two are easy to mix up. Our stationery suite guide explains that escort cards sit at the reception entrance and point each guest to a table, while place cards sit on the table and mark a specific seat. The same maker handles both: for escort cards, keep the table line and arrange the cards alphabetically at the entrance; for place cards, put each card at its seat.
Printing and cutting
The place card size is 3.5 x 2 in. Print sheets (PDF) fits twelve cards on each US Letter page, set in landscape and edge to edge with cut marks in the margins, so 120 guests is 10 sheets. Print the PDF at actual size (100 percent), not fit to page. Print the first sheet on plain paper to check the alignment, then print on card stock and cut along the marks with a paper trimmer. If you would rather have a print shop do it, send them the ZIP of PNG files or the PDF. Choose 3x print quality before you start the batch for sharp names.
Tips for a smooth seating plan
- Write names the way guests know them, and double-check spellings against your RSVP list.
- Use the extra line for meal choices if your caterer serves plated meals, so servers can place the right dish.
- Make a few spare cards by adding lines that start with a comma, such as
, 4. Those cards show only the table, ready for a handwritten name. - Keep your template and colors from the invitation so the tables match the rest of the suite.
Your guest list stays on your device
The list you paste is processed in your browser. It is saved in this browser's local storage so you can come back to it, but it is never uploaded and it is not included in share links. Use Reset or clear the list when you are done.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make place cards from a guest list?
Design one card, open the Guest list tab and paste one guest per line with the table after a comma, for example Guest name, 4. Then download every card at once as a ZIP of PNG files or as printable PDF sheets.
What is the difference between place cards and escort cards?
Escort cards are displayed at the reception entrance and tell each guest which table to go to. Place cards sit on the table and mark a specific seat. You can make either one here.
Can I add a meal choice to each place card?
Yes. Add a third column after the table, for example Guest name, 4, Salmon. It appears as a small extra line under the table, which helps servers with plated meals.
How many place cards fit on a sheet?
At 3.5 x 2 in, the Print sheets PDF fits twelve cards on each US Letter page in landscape, edge to edge with cut marks in the margins. Print it at actual size, not fit to page, so the cards keep their exact size.
Is my guest list uploaded anywhere?
No. The list is processed in your browser and saved only in this browser's local storage. It is never sent to a server and is not included in share links.
