What to put on a wedding menu

A menu card tells guests what is coming and helps anyone with dietary needs plan their meal. Keep it simple:

The maker has four course slots. The fourth starts empty; use it for a late-night snack, a signature cocktail or a bar list, or leave it blank and it disappears. Dish names can run over two lines, and the text shrinks a little to fit if a course gets long.

Match the menu to the RSVP card

If your RSVP card asked guests to choose a meal, use the same dish names on the menu so guests recognise what they ordered. Check the final wording with your caterer before printing, especially allergens and any substitutions.

Size and layout

The maker starts at the slim 4 x 9.25 in card that our sizes guide lists for menus: it sits on a folded napkin or on a plate without crowding the place setting. For one menu per table, switch to 5 x 7 in and use a small stand. The orientation buttons next to the size menu flip any size between portrait and landscape.

How many menus to print

There are two common approaches: one menu at each place setting, which looks polished and doubles as a keepsake, or one or two menus per table, which costs less. Either way, print a few spares. The Print sheet PDF button fits two slim menus side by side on each US Letter page with cut marks, so 120 guests at one menu each is 60 sheets. Print it at actual size (100 percent).

Printing tips

Download at 3x for 300 dpi. A matte card stock is easier to read under reception lighting than glossy paper. If you are printing at home, print one sheet first and trim it to check that the cut marks line up with your printer.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need a menu card for every guest?

No. One menu at each place setting looks polished and doubles as a keepsake, while one or two menus per table cost less. Both are common, so choose what suits your budget and table layout.

What size is a wedding menu card?

The slim 4 x 9.25 in card is a popular size because it fits on a plate or napkin. A 5 x 7 in card works well for one menu per table in a stand. You can pick either, or a custom size, in the maker.

Should a wedding menu list allergens?

Only list what your caterer has confirmed. Many couples mark vegetarian or gluten-free dishes and point guests with allergies to the catering staff. Check the final wording with your caterer before printing.

Can I print wedding menus at home?

Yes. Use Print sheet PDF to place two slim menus on each US Letter page with cut marks, print on card stock, and trim along the marks. Print one test sheet first.

Can the menu match our invitation?

Yes. The menu maker uses the same templates, colors and fonts as the invitation maker, and your names and template carry over between them.
